LOST VALUES IN PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

It is important to determine the lost values of primary school students who will form the community of our future. The values lost in elementary school students are important for shedding light on the values that will be lost in our future society. The aim of this research is to determine and examine the values lost in elementary school students. The research was carried out by using qualitative research method phenomenology. Appropriate sampling method and criterion sampling method were used in the selection of participants. Criteria In the sample, professional experience was defined as classroom teachers for ten years or more. The purpose of using benchmarking is to have the ability to compare the values of classroom teachers with a lot of professional experience to those of past and present primary school students. Participants of the study consist of 14 primary school teachers who work in a state primary school in the district center of Pasinler, Erzurum province. As a data collection tool, semi-structured interview form developed by researchers was used. The data were collected in June, 2017. The semi-structured interview form prepared by the researchers was applied to 14 primary school teachers. The interviews were held in break-even classrooms in which the primary school teacher served. The interviews with the primary school teachers were recorded on the voice recorder with permission from the teacher. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. The data are gathered under specific themes and presented in a way that the reader can easily understand. The results of this study, in which the values lost in elementary school students were examined, reached five themes. The themes reached are: decrease in respect, decrease in love, problems of socialization, self-centeredness, reduced awareness of responsibility. As a result of the findings, various suggestions were made to primary school teachers and families.
