Abstract


ORTAÖĞRETİM ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN ŞİDDET ALGILARINI İNCELEMEYE YÖNELİK BİR ARAŞTIRMA (MERSİN İLİ ÖRNEĞİ)

In this study, how the rise of violence is perceived in educational areas and the effects of acts of violence on students are analyzed. Therefore; this study aims to investigate the perceptions of violence of secondary school students. The findings are analyzed as they are required. For this study, EARGED’s (2008) questionnaire was adapted and a bit revised by the researcher of this study in order to find out the perceptions of violence of secondary school students and the causes of violence. The questionnaire was delivered to the secondary school students in the state schools in Turkey. The study was conducted in 2016-2017 academic year on 600 secondary school students who study in four central districts in Mersin, which is located in the South of Turkey. In the study, the case of violence is described from different aspects. Therefore; this study is designed as a single screening model which seeks to answer the quantitative study. At the end of the study, the answers of the students introduce us that secondary school students describe violence as harsh behaviours, kick or slap, hit or using pressure over people. In addition to these issues, violence is mostly seen in the streets and then in the social and school environments. The students declared that failure is the most important factor for violence. What’s more; the students explained that they are exposed to verbal violence. Most of the students stress that they will attack mercilessly when they are angry.
