THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEISURE SATISFACTION AND COGNITIVE FLEXIBILITY OF SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGICAL COUNSELORS

The concept of cognitive flexibility, which expresses the ability of an individual to adapt his / her approach or way of thinking to any event, situation, or way of thinking to the new situation, and the concept of leisure satisfaction, which expresses the satisfaction it provides in the time outside of the work activities and basic needs in order to survive. The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between leisure satisfaction and cognitive flexibility of school psychological counselors. The research was conducted in relational scanning model, one of the quantitative research methods. The research was carried out in public schools in the province of Istanbul in 2019.The sample of the study consists of 157 women and 146 men, in total 303 school counselors. “Cognitive Flexibility Inventory” and “Leisure Satisfaction Scale” were used as data collection tools. Research data were tested using t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and correlation analysis. According to the results of the research, the cognitive flexibility and leisure satisfaction of the school psychological counselors were found to be high level. Cognitive flexibility and leisure satisfaction of school counselors do not differ significantly according to gender, marital status, age and education level. A highly significant positive correlation was found between cognitive flexibility and leisure satisfaction of school counselors. The research findings were discussed within the framework of the relevant literature, and recommendations were made.
