MEASURING THE LEADERSHIP CHARACTERISTICS OF FOOTBALL COACHES

This study aims to measure the leadership characteristics of football coaches. The sample of the research consists of a total of 648 football coaches working in various sports clubs in Turkey, 7 of which are women and 641 men. The individuals participating in the study were chosen by random method. As a data collection tool in research; The Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire 5-X Short (MLQ) was developed by Bass and Avolio (1995) and adapted to Turkish by Cemaloğlu (2007) and the "Personal Information Form" questioning demographic characteristics were used. According to the findings of the research, results showed that the leadership perceptions of football coaches in the transformational leadership dimension, the transactional leadership dimension, and the outcomes of leadership behavior dimension were above the average (p <0.05). According to the other findings of the study, results showed that  the dimensions of the transformational leadership style, transactional leadership style, and leadership behavior results of Football Coaches did not change significantly according to the marital status, the certificate of the coach, and the league variables in which the club they work in (p> 0.05). On the other hand, it was determined that it changed significantly according to the variables of age, education level, and professional seniority (p <0.05). As a result, this research revealed that there is a positive relationship between some demographic characteristics of football coaches and their leadership characteristics.
