Summary

CONTENT ANALYSIS OF GRADUATE THESES PREPARED FOR EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT

In this study, it is aimed to determine the general trends towards the graduate level theses prepared for the relationship between "education" and "development" in Turkey in 1993-2023. In addition, positive relations between education and development have been prioritized. The study was prepared in line with the determined criteria and measured by descriptive content analysis, which is one of the qualitative research methods. In this context, 44 approved and authorized graduate level theses were reached. It was determined that the number of female researchers who prepared graduate theses was higher than the number of male researchers and master's level theses were higher than doctoral theses. Although theses are prepared almost every year in a very long period of 30 years, the most popular and produced year in theses has been "2019". Graduate level theses were mostly produced in the "Institute of Social Sciences" and "Economics" and "Educational Administration" departments. "Qualitative research method" was preferred more frequently in the research method, "descriptive analysis" and "document analysis" were preferred more frequently in the research design. It was seen that the general trends in the produced theses were mostly in the direction of "development and education", "sustainable development and education", and at least in the direction of "development and education financing", "development and education expenditures". Considering the large number of development plans and universities in Turkey, it is concluded that the number of researches prepared is quite insufficient, barren and arid. There is a need to prepare many more graduate theses both in terms of quantity and content. Researchers should be encouraged and research supports should be provided by higher education institutions.
