INVESTIGATION OF POSTGRADUATE THESES ON SOCIAL STUDIES TEACHING IN PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHER EDUCATION

The purpose of this research is to examine the postgraduate theses on Social Studies teaching in primary school teacher education. The research was carried out with the document analysis method based on the qualitative research approach. The universe of the research consists of 255 postgraduate theses in YÖKTEZ (Higher Education Council Thesis Center) and indexed as "Social Studies Teaching". The sample of the research is “Social Studies Teaching” in each of the “Primary Education Classroom Teaching”, “Classroom Education Department”, “Classroom Teaching Department”, “Classroom Teaching Education” and “Basic Education Department” options in the detailed search tab of YÖKTEZ. It constitutes a total of 139 postgraduate theses, of which 110 are master's theses and 29 doctoral theses, which were scanned with the indexes”. Data were collected through the thesis review form. In the thesis review form; There are variables of completion years, universities, research methods, study groups, data collection tools and analyzes, contents and teaching methods and techniques used of postgraduate theses on Social Studies Teaching in the field of classroom teaching. In the research; Most of the postgraduate theses on Social Studies teaching in the field of classroom teaching are master's theses, the most theses were completed in 2019, the most thesis was done at Gazi University, the most quantitative research method was used, the most primary school 4th grade students were the study group. It was concluded that scales were frequently used as a data collection tool, t-test was used in quantitative research as data analysis, content analysis was used in qualitative research, the effect of teaching methods-techniques was investigated the most as content, and the most creative drama method was among the methods used. Suggestions were made in line with the results.
