Abstract


RECYCLING AND RECOVERY AWARENESS ACTION RESEARCH FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS

In this age where we face many important problems such as natural disasters, global warming and climate changes; for a livable future, it is necessary not to remain indifferent to environmental problems and to contribute to the upbringing of the new generation as conscious individuals. In this context, it is very important to determine the recycling and recovery awareness of primary school students in environmental awareness education. In this study, which aims to reveal the extent to which the books named Curious Green Bottle, White Plastic Cup, Old Plane Tree, Recycling Workshop, written by Bilge Buhan Musa, which deal with the themes of recycling and recovery, contribute to the environmental awareness and sensitivity of students, action research, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. The research was conducted with primary school third grade students in the 2020-2021 academic year. The study data obtained through the interview questions were presented by making content analysis. When the answers given by the students to the first and last interview questions were compared; it was concluded that the books included in the study helped students to complete their missing information, correct their information mistakes, and expand their perspectives. It has been seen that these books can be used to raise awareness of students about recycling and recovery and to increase their awareness.
